Dress code Beach Wedding

May 2, 2022

1* Forget About Black

The color black tends to attrack more the heat. We recommend to use instead colorful fabrics that let the skin breathe.

2* Women: Avoid White

Even though we recommend to use light colors we need to remember one of the most important rules of the wedding etiquette is not to use white, ivory, beige dresses if you are not the bride.

3* Long Dresses or Ankle Height

The dress code of the event is formal. Even though the ceremony will be held on the beach we do not recommend to use cocktail dresses or short dresses as these do not fit the etiquette. Long dresses with airy fabrics or ankle height dresses would be the favorite for this event.

4* Do Not Use Beach Clothing

Yes, the event is in Cancun and yes, the ceremony will be on the beach, this does not mean that you will follow the dress code by using the same dresses/clothing you would normally use to go to the beach any other day. Beach cover ups, sarongs or pareos aren't aligned with the etiquette of the wedding.

5* We Encourage You to Use Prints

Do you love how prints look with long dresses or in silky fabrics? This is your moment to use them! look at the cover picture of this article, they look amazing on beach weddings and are completely aligned with the dress code for this one.

6* We Do Not Recommend to Use Heavy Fabrics

Even if the dress code is formal we still need to bear in mind the heat of Cancun and that the first 2 hours of the wedding will be held outdoors. Heavy dresses with stones and thick fabrics might become a bourden after a couple of minutes. Therefore we recommend to use fresh fabrics.

7* High Heels

If you want to wear high heels do so!  We just want to highlight that the first 30 min of the wedding (the ceremony) will be directly on the sand so you might have to remove them during this part. After that we will be on spaces with regular floor so you can put them back.

We will also add one "shoe vallet" so you can leave your shoes there and clean them after the ceremony.

In case you don't like the idea of being bearfoot for a couple of minutes we recommend you to use thick heels or sandals.

8* Make Up and Hair

We recommend you to use make up water proof and a hairstyle that is not making you uncomfortable in the heat or that can be affected by the humidity of the place.

If you want to get your make up and hair done at the hotel's salon please let Maritza know ASAP so she can book your spot with the wedding planner, the prices are:

Hair $74

Make up $65

In case you would like to still get your hair and makeup done but in other place rather than the hotel zone in Cancun look our FAQ section.

9* Clothing for Men

We encourage you to use fresh fabrics like cotton, silk, gauze or linen for your shirt. We recommend you to use light colors like beige, brown or gray in case you are wearing a blazer, also make sure is not a thick one. For the trousers we recommend cotton or linen. Skinny jeans won't allow your skin to breathe. Shorts aren't allowed.

10* Shoes for Men

You can use leather shoes like boat Sperry's shoes. Using open shoes like sandals is not aligned with the formal dress code.

11* Should You Wear a Blazer?

This is completely up to you, if you believe for the 2 hours we would be outdoors this would be unbearable then we do not recommend to use it. After the ceremony and cocktail hour we will be all moved indoors and there will be fresh air conditioner there.

Thank you for following the recommendations!

At the end we do all of this because the wedding pictures will be considered as a family heirloom and we want that all of you look amazing. These pictures will be use to remember the wedding day for the next years to come and hopefully will be passed through new generations. If you have specific questions, please reach out to the groom or bride.

We are so happy that you will celebrate this day with us <3
